Collection: Houbigant

Houbigant is a heritage French perfume house with a history dating back to 1775. Founded by 19-year-old Jean-François Houbigant who in 1829 was appointed perfumer to the Princess Adelaide d’Orleans, the sister of King Louis-Philippe. The brand originally sold gloves, perfumes and bridal bouquets. This perfumerie’s story began with a basket of flowers that was hand painted and hung above Jean-François Hourigan’s small shop in Faubourg Saint-Honoré. From the beginning his fragrances gained favour among royalty and the nobility.

Houbigant is credited with creating two of the most influential fragrances ever made: Fougère Royale (1882), which established an entirely new fragrance family, and Quelques Fleurs (1912), which pioneered the modern multifloral fragrance. More than a heritage brand, Houbigant helped define perfumery as we know it today.
